DES MOINES, IOWA – James Benson II won the 400m race in convincing fashion for the Southeastern Louisiana Track and Field team Friday night at the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium.
Benson II, a junior, won the race by .26 seconds over South Dakota's Demar Francis taking home the title in a time of 46.31.
The Charleston, Illinois native currently sits 12
th in the NCAA East Qualifying standings in the 400m after running a 46.05 at the Texas Relays March 25. Benson also ranks second in the Southland behind teammate Jonathon Sawyer who ran a school record 45.35 at the Texas Relays.
