CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – No. 6-seeded Southeastern Louisiana dropped a pair of duals on the first day of action at the 2021 Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament at Water's Edge Park, bringing its first full season of competition to a close.
 
The Beach Lions dropped their opening contest, 4-0, to No. 3-seeded Stephen F. Austin (9-12), falling into the loser's bracket. Southeastern (3-19) fell, 3-2, to No. 4-seeded Central Arkansas (18-15) in an elimination contest, ending its tournament run.
 
Southeastern dropped a pair of tight matchups to SFA in the top two flights. The No. 1 pair of Mikayla Richard and Meagan Scuderi pushed their competition to the edge before falling, 21-18, 21-19, while Hannah Barosh and Michelle Mirarchi came up short, 21-17, 21-15.
 
With losses in the third and fifth flights helping decide the outcome of the dual, the No. 4 pair of Ariana Hebert and Linsey Sackett had their matchup halted after splitting the first two sets (21-17, 17-21).
 
The Beach Lions scored a pair of points against UCA, claiming victories in the first and second flights before ultimately falling.
 
Richard and Scuderi scored a 21-15, 21-10 win over the Sugar Bears' top pair. Barosh and Mirarchi scrapped their way to a 21-19, 15-21, 15-8 victory in the second.
