DES MOINES, IOWA – Throwers Stevon Crooks, Franck DiSanza, Thomas Nedow, Kristian Jackson and Ashley Davis will headline a group of 10 student-athletes for the Southeastern Louisiana Track and Field team competing in the Drake Relays Friday and Saturday at Drake Stadium.

Davis, Nedow, Jackson and Crooks will all compete in the shot put Friday afternoon. Nedow and Jackson will also be in action in the discus while DiSanza competes in the javelin.

Davis, a senior, has the Southland's top spot and holds the 10th spot in the NCAA East Qualifying standings in the shot put. The Watson, Louisiana native threw 54 feet, 7.25 inches (16.64m) at the South Alabama Invitational March 12. The 2019 Southland Outdoor runner up in the shot put, Davis will compete Friday at 5 p.m.

Nedow and Crooks hold two of the top four rankings in the Southland shot put. Crooks is third with a mark of 55-7.5 (16.95m) while Nedow is fourth (55-6.5, 16.93m). The two will throw at 1:30 p.m. Friday. Nedow will also compete in the discus at 4 p.m. as he ranks fourth (167-5, 51.02m) in the event in the Southland as well.

Jackson enters the Drake Relays fourth in the Southland in the shot put (50-.0.75, 15.26m). The Zachary, Louisiana native is also second in the conference in the discus (169-6, 51.66m) as she will look to improve on both this weekend.

DiSanza, a sophomore, sits third (228-7, 69.68m) in the Southland in the javelin. The Switzerland product will be in action Friday at 3 p.m.

"We're really excited about some good competition," said SLU track and field assistant and throwing event coach Matt Tholis. "We're looking for this to get the second half of our season kick-started and get ready for conference and regionals and hopefully increase some of the marks for regional qualifying."

The SLU men's 4x400 relay team of James Benson II, Donovan Storr, D.J. Ruffin and Jonathon Sawyer will also compete this weekend as they enter with the 8th best time (3:06.79) in the NCAA East Qualifying standings. The group will race Saturday at 4 p.m.

Sawyer (20.67) and Benson II (20.79) will take their marks in the 200m as well. The duo ranks in the top 25 in the regional qualifying after their performances at the Strawberry Relays April 11.

Ruffin, a senior, will also be in the long jump Friday at 3:30 p.m. as he ranks seventh in the event in the east qualifying.

Slavko Stevic, the Southland Conference Indoor High Jump runner up, will see action this weekend. The Serbian native enters with a high mark of 6-11.5 inches (2.12m) which ranks 19th in the NCAA East Qualifying.
