HAMMOND, La. – After helping Southeastern Louisiana to a nonconference win over Mississippi State and a Southland Conference series victory over McNeese, Heather Zumo was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Softball Pitcher of the Week, the LSWA announced on Tuesday.
 
The honor is the latest weekly accolade for the Lady Lion ace. Zumo was previously named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 16 and March 2.
 
Zumo's recognition also marked the second straight week a SLU student-athlete was honored by the LSWA. Audrey Greely was named the state's Hitter of the Week last Tuesday.
 
Zumo finished the week with a 1-0 record and a 1.05 earned run average in 13.1 innings of work in the circle. The Baton Rouge, Louisiana native's week was highlighted by a complete-game three-hitter that saw her strike out five in a 3-2 victory over McNeese in the series opener.
 
Zumo is 13-2 overall with a 1.98 ERA, including a 7-0 record and 1.50 ERA in Southland competition. Zumo ranks among the conference leaders in ERA (6^th), opposing batting average (.200, 5^th), innings pitched (109.1, 2^nd), strikeouts (113, 2^nd) and wins (2^nd).
