NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Southeastern Louisiana dropped a pair of duals this weekend, falling 5-0 to Stephen F. Austin and 3-2 to Texas A&M-Kingsville, to kick off a duals and pairs tournament at SFA.
 
The Beach Lions (3-10) lost in straight sets Friday in each of the first four flights against SFA (3-9) before the Ladyjacks won the fifth flight in a walkover.
 
Later Friday afternoon against Texas A&M-Kingsville (7-6), picked up points in each of the first two flights. Southeastern's No. 1 duo of Mikayla Richard and Meagan Scuderi earned a 22-20, 21-19 win. The No. 2 duo of Hannah Barosh and Michelle Mirarchi faced a hard-fought victory in three sets, 17-21, 21-14, 22-20. The No. 4 duo of Linsey Sackett and Nylissa Snagg took a set of the Javelinas despite the loss, 23-21, 14-21, 15-11.
 
Saturday in the pairs tournament, Barosh and Mirarchi fell to Texas A&M-Kingsville's No. 7 pair, 21-18, but Richard and Scuderi turned around to defeat the Javelina's duo, 21-9. Advancing to face SFA's No. 3 pair, Richard and Scuderi dropped a 21-15 decision.
 
In a matchup of two Southeastern pair, Marisa Calvaruso and Eryn Wilks fell, 22-20, to Sackett and Snagg who turned around dropped a 21-19 decision against the Ladyjacks' No. 4 duo.
 
UP NEXT
Southeastern returns to the sand Monday with duals against New Orleans and Southern Miss at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively, at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
