HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team hosts Abilene Christian for a three-game Southland Conference softball series at North Oak Park.
The series between SLU (15-12, 5-1 Southland) and the visiting Wildcats (6-18, 2-4 Southland) starts with a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Friday at North Oak Park. Saturday's series finale is set for noon. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
Southeastern won three of four games during its most recent road swing. After taking two of three games at Houston Baptist, the Lady Lions took a 2-1 victory at ULM in a nonconference pitcher's duel Wednesday night.
SLU comes into the series with a .279 team batting average.
Lindsey Rizzo leads the team and ranks ninth in the Southland with a .400 batting average.
Aeriyl Mass shares the Southland lead with 35 hits and is second in the conference with 23 runs scored. Rizzo is third in the league in both categories with 34 hits and 20 runs.
Mass also ranks among the Southland's best in triples (two, 2
nd) and RBI (17, 6
th). SLU's
Ella Manzer (15, 10
th) also ranks in the league's top 10 for RBI. Mass,
Cameron Goodman,
Briahna Bennett and
Ellie DuBois share team-high honors with two home runs apiece.
SLU is among the national leaders with a league-high 81 stolen bases with Mass (18), Rizzo (17), Goodman (14) and
Kelci Bodin (10) all boasting double-digit steals.
Heather Zumo (9-2, 2.36 ERA),
MC Comeaux (6-5, 5.69 ERA) and
Sophie Hannabas (0-3, 7.57 ERA) have been the top starters for a SLU pitching staff that has a 4.65 team earned run average. DuBois (0-1, 3.71 ERA) shares the Southland lead with a single-season school record four saves.
The Lady Lions will be facing an Abilene Christian lineup that has a .238 team batting average. Calie Burris leads the Wildcat regulars with a .292 batting average. Burris and teammate Avery Miloch share the Southland lead with seven home runs each.
Four ACU pitchers have combined for a 5.83 team earned run average. Samantha Bradley (3-9, 4.80 ERA) and Riley White (3-7, 5.51 ERA) are the most active arms for the Wildcats.

Southeastern will travel to Nicholls for a three-game Southland Conference series next week. The series opens with a 5 p.m. contest on Friday and concludes with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
