HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana defeated Park University of Missouri twice, as well as host Hendrix College, this past Saturday at Beach Bear Sand Courts in Conway, Arkansas, earning the first three team wins in program history.
The Beach Lions (3-8) defeated Park, 4-1, and Hendrix, 4-0, before once again knocking off Park, 4-1. The victories for Southeastern come in just the fourth event the program has participated in after having its debut season cut short in 2020 by the COIVD-19 pandemic.
Picking up the first win in program history, the Beach Lions picked up their first point in the third flight following a walkover by Park in the fifth flight.
Marisa Calvaruso (Denham Springs, La.) and
Eryn Wilks (Hammond, La.) earned a 21-13, 21-15 win over Erika de Guzman and Parker Johnson. For the duo, it was their first individual wins this season.
Linsey Sackett (League City, Texas) and
Nylissa Snagg (Katy, Texas) earned a 21-13, 21-11 win in the fourth flight, besting Natalya Nalivaiko and Lauren Zenti. It was the first individual wins this season for the pair.
Southeastern's No. 1 duo of
Mikayla Richard (Mandeville, La.) and
Meagan Scuderi (Metairie, La.) clinched the team victory with a 21-10, 21-14 win over Taryn Bloomfield and Melissa Knaut. It was the second individual wins this season for the pair.
Hannah Barosh (Richards, Texas) and
Michelle Mirarchi (Plano, Texas) finished off the dual with a 21-12, 21-13 win in the second flight over Margherita Marconi and Keaton Wilczynski. For the duo, it was their third individual wins this season.
Against Hendrix (2-7), Sackett and Snagg were the recipients of a walkover in the fourth flight. Richard and Scuderi finished their matchup first with a 21-10, 21-0 win. Barosh and Mirarchi, playing at No. 2, clinched the dual with a 21-11, 21-8 win. Calvaruso and Wilks finished off Hendrix with a 23-21, 18-21, 15-9 win.
In the finale against Park (1-2), the Beach Lions once again provided a walkover in the fifth flight before sweeping through the rest of the competition.
Richard and Scuderi grabbed Southeastern's first point with a 21-14, 21-6 win in the first flight. The next point came in the fourth flight as Sackett and Snagg dominated in a 21-6, 21-5 win. The No. 3 duo of Calvaruso and Wilks clinched the dual with a 21-18, 21-15 win. Barosh and Mirarchi finished off the contest with a 21-13, 21-8 win.

With rain washing out this afternoon's duals in Hattiesburg, Mississippi against New Orleans and Southern Miss, Southeastern returns to the sand Friday in Nacogdoches, Texas with duals against host Stephen F. Austin as well as Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The matchups against UNO and Southern Miss have been rescheduled for Monday at the Southern Miss Beach Volleyball Complex in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
