HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana soccer and softball teams will open their respective seasons, while basketball and tennis will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The SLU soccer team opens up its Southland Conference-only schedule on Friday, traveling to Lamar for a 7 p.m. contest in Beaumont, Texas.
 
The Southeastern softball team will host the Lion Classic to open the 2021 season. The tournament opens with a 5 p.m. game versus South Dakota on Thursday. On Friday, SLU hosts Southern Illinois-Edwardsville for a 5 p.m. contest at North Oak Park. The Lady Lions take on South Dakota at 4:30 p.m. and North Texas at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, SLU closes the tournament with a 2 p.m. game versus North Texas.
 
The SLU men's basketball team (6-11, 4-4 Southland) will open the week on the road, traveling to face Sam Houston on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Huntsville, Texas. SLU returns home on Saturday to host Nicholls at 7 p.m. in the University Center.
 
The Lady Lion women's basketball team (5-6, 4-4 Southland) will close out its six-game home stand this week. Southeastern welcomes Sam Houston on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. contest and hosts Nicholls on Saturday at 5 p.m.
 
The Southeastern tennis team (1-1) has a pair of matches on tap this week. On Thursday, the Lions travel to Jackson State for a 5 p.m. non-conference match. South Alabama hosts SLU on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match in Mobile, Alabama.

All of this week's soccer and basketball action, as well as Friday and Sunday's softball games will be televised on ESPN+. A live video stream for Thursday and Saturday's softball games will be available at www.LionSports.net/ssn.

Seniors Breonca Ducksworth (Wednesday) and Caitlin Williams (Saturday) will be this week's women's basketball Spotlight Players of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring that day's Spotlight Player of the Game, courtesy of PRIDE.
