HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team won the doubles point, but dropped a 4-1 decision to Abilene Christian in Southland Conference women's tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
SLU (3-5, 1-1 Southland) took a pair of doubles matches to take the early lead, but the visiting Wildcats (6-7, 2-0 Southland) won four singles matches in straight sets to take the win.
 
"We got off to a great start in doubles play," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes said. "Our effort continues to be there, but ACU was the better team in singles play today."
 
In doubles play, SLU took the early lead with wins on the bottom two courts. On No. 2, the SLU duo of Annemart Kleijn and Flory Bierma took down Allison Stewart and Danielle Viljoen, 6-1. The Lion pair of Katya Cornejo and Ariadna Perez clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 victory over Maryjoe Crisologo and Nini Memishishi.
 
Abilene Christian came back to win in singles action. The Wildcats won on courts 3-6 in straight sets to secure the win. SLU's Putri Insani and Polina Sleptsova were both up a set on courts 1 and 2, respectively.

Following this week's action, SLU will embark on a four-match Southland road swing, starting with a 1 p.m. match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday.
