HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern track and field teams compete for the conference championships and the SLU football team opens its home schedule, while the basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, golf and tennis teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The final day of the Southland Conference Indoor Championships is set for Monday in Birmingham, Alabama. After Sunday's opening day, the defending champion Lions are in second place, while the Lady Lions closed the final day in fifth place. Live results are available at www.Southland.org.
 
The Southeastern football team (0-1, 0-1 Southland) will open its home schedule on Saturday. The Lions welcome in-state foe McNeese for a 6 p.m. Southland matchup in Strawberry Stadium. Saturday's game will be the first SLU football game played in Hammond in 461 days.
 
The SLU men's basketball team (7-15, 5-8 Southland) will look to secure a postseason berth during the final week of the 2020-21 regular season. On Wednesday, the Lions will be in Conway, Arkansas for a 7 p.m. league contest versus Central Arkansas. New Orleans awaits the Lions on Saturday for the 7 p.m. regular season finale.
 
Winners of its last six games and with a postseason berth clinched, the Lady Lion women's basketball team (10-6, 9-4 Southland) can secure the No. 2 seed in next week's Southland Conference Tournament with wins on Wednesday at Central Arkansas and Saturday at New Orleans. Both games tip off at 4 p.m.
 
The Lion baseball team (3-4) returns home to host Tulane on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Troy then visits Alumni Field for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday's games both are set for 1 p.m.
 
The SLU softball team (7-6) also returns home on Wednesday, hosting Louisiana Tech for a 4 p.m. doubleheader at North Oak Park. Southeastern will then head back on the road to compete in the Auburn Invitational. The Lady Lions will face Troy in a 9 a.m. doubleheader on Friday, followed by a 2:30 twin bill versus host Auburn on Saturday.
 
The SLU soccer team (1-2, 1-2 Southland) will open its home schedule this week. The Lady Lions host Sam Houston State at 7 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday, Southeastern welcomes Stephen F. Austin for a 1 p.m. match.
 
The Lion golf team will hit the links this week, traveling down to Diamondhead, Mississippi to compete in the Gulf Coast Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
 
The Southeastern tennis team (3-5, 1-1 Southland) will hit the road this week for a pair of Southland matches. SLU faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday at 1 p.m., before traveling to Lamar for an 11 a.m. match on Sunday.

Saturday's football game, Friday and Sunday's baseball games, as well as Wednesday's softball doubleheader will be televised on ESPN+. The Southeastern Sports Network will air Wednesday and Saturday's baseball games at www.LionSports.net/listenlive.
 
Saturday's football game will be heard on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM). Wednesday, Friday and Sunday's baseball games can be heard live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9).
 
Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo, sponsored by Louisiana's First Choice Auto Auction, airs Monday night at 7 p.m. on the outside patio of Pour House Pizza and Beer Garden (505 West Thomas Street). Hosted by Allen Waddell, the show will air on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network (KSLU-FM (90.9), Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM) every Monday during the season.
