HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team will open Southland Conference play this week, hosting a pair of league rivals at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (2-4) will start the week's conference action with a 1 p.m. match versus UIW (0-2) on Friday. On Sunday, SLU hosts Abilene Christian (4-7) with first serve set for 11 a.m.
Putri Insani (3-2) leads Southeastern in singles victories, while
Flory Bierma and
Teodora Mitrovic each have multiple singles wins to their credit as well this spring. In doubles play, Insani and
Ximena Yanez (3-3) boast a team-best record on the No. 1 court.
UIW will be playing its first match since Jan. 29. The Cardinals have a pair of 6-1 defeats to UL Lafayette and Houston on their ledger this season.
Abilene Christian closed out its preconference schedule with a 4-2 win over Wichita State on Wednesday. The Wildcats are led in singles play by Nini Memishishi (4-2), while the duo of Allison Stewart and Sylvia Viljoen boast a team-best doubles mark of 6-4 this spring.

Following this week's action, SLU will embark on a four-match Southland road swing, starting with a 1 p.m. match at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, March 5.
