SLU Travels to FSU Unconquered Invitational

Lady Lions to face Florida A&M (Friday, 1 p.m. - DH), Florida State (Saturday, 2 p.m.) and FGCU (Sunday, 8 a.m.)

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will return to action this week, traveling to Tallahassee, Florida to compete in the FSU Unconquered Invitational.
 
Southeastern (4-5) opens the tournament on Friday, facing Florida A&M (0-0) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader. Host Florida State (7-3) will take on SLU on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Lady Lions close out the tournament with an 8 a.m. game versus Florida Gulf Coast (4-5) on Sunday.
 
The Lady Lions come into the tournament with a .288 team batting average. Audrey Greely leads the team with a .500 batting average, while Aeriyl Mass has a team-high nine runs scored and 13 hits.
 
Briahna Bennett leads the team with two home runs, while Mass and Ellie DuBois each have one home run. Mass, Bennett and DuBois share the team lead with seven RBI. Greely,
 
Bennett, DuBois and Ella Manzer share team-high honors with two doubles each. Lindsey Rizzo is a perfect 7-for-7 on stolen bases to pace Southeastern on the base paths.
 
In the circle, seven SLU pitchers have combined for a 6.67 team ERA. Heather Zumo (3-1, 3.50 ERA) has been the most effective arm on the Lady Lion staff through the opening two weeks.
 
FAMU will be making its 2021 season debut this week in Tallahassee. The Rattlers were 3-17 last spring when the COVID-19 pandemic halted the season. Destiny Cuevas (.283 in 2020) is the leading returning hitter for Florida A&M, which returns Nadia Zenteno (1-6, 6.80 ERA, 1 save), Gabriella Williams (0-6, 11.36 ERA) and Brandice Boatwright (1-4, 13.95 ERA) in the circle.
 
Elizabeth Mason leads Florida State with a .367 batting average, 11 hits, four doubles three home runs and nine RBI. Kathryn Sandercock (2-1, 3.61 ERA, 1 save), Danielle Watson (3-0, 2.90 ERA) and Caylan Arnold (2-1, 2.83 ERA, 1 save) have split time in the circle for the Seminoles.
 
Marissa Mesiemore leads Florida Gulf Coast with a .333 batting average, as she, Taylor Bauman and Jordyn Gendron each have a home run to their credit. Mesiemore (2-3, 4.59 ERA) and Bauman (2-1, 2.24 ERA) double as the team's top pitchers.

Following this week's tournament, SLU returns home to host Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, March 3 in a 5 p.m. doubleheader at North Oak Park. The games will air on ESPN+.
