HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana softball team will open its road schedule this weekend, competing in the UAB Green and Gold Classic in Birmingham, Alabama.
SLU (3-2) will face Jacksonville State (0-1) on Saturday at 10 a.m. and then take on UAB (2-2) at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Southeastern faces No. 9 UL Lafayette (0-0) at 10 a.m. followed by a 12:30 p.m. rematch with UAB.

Southeastern opened the season by hosting the Lion Classic last weekend. SLU opened the tournament with three wins over South Dakota on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the Lady Lions fell to USD and North Texas.
SLU is hitting .331 as a team heading into the weekend's action.
Audrey Greely leads the team with a .500 batting average, while
Aeriyl Mass and
Ellie DuBois each have a home run and a triple to their credit.
DuBois,
Ella Manzer and
Briahna Bennett each share the team lead with two doubles each. Mass has a team-high eight runs, while DuBois paces the squad with seven RBI.
Cameron Goodman has swiped a team-high five bases, while DuBois and
Kelci Bodin have each drawn six walks to lead the Lady Lions.
Southeastern heads to Birmingham with a 6.58 team earned run average.
Heather Zumo (2-0, 3.50 ERA), who tossed the seventh no-hitter in school history in Thursday's season opener and was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week for her efforts, and
MC Comeaux (1-1, 6.79 ERA) have split the majority of the innings in the circle for SLU.
Jacksonville State dropped its season opener, 7-6, in extra innings to ULM last week. Karsen Mosley led JSU at the plate with a 4-for-5 showing, while Reagan Watkins (0-1, 2.00 ERA) took the hard luck loss, scattering five hits and striking out eight in seven innings of work.
UAB split its opening four games of the season last week. Sierra Frazier leads the Blazers with a .500 batting average and a home run, while the trio of Emily Kachel (1-1, 5.00 ERA), Amy Woodham (0-1, 3.32 ERA) and Jaycee Cook (1-0, 0.00 ERA) have split the majority of the work in the circle for UAB.
UL Lafayette will be making its season debut this weekend in Birmingham. Kaitlyn Alderink (.364) is the top returning hitter for average for a Ragin' Cajun squad that hit .305 with 27 home runs last spring before the season was halted. Staff ace Summer Ellyson (11-1, 1.83 ERA, 1 save in 2020) returns in the circle for UL Lafayette.

This weekend marks the first of three straight weekend road tournaments SLU will participate in. Next weekend, Southeastern heads to Tallahassee, Florida to compete in the FSU Conquered Invitational, hosted by Florida State. SLU faces Florida A&M in a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday to open the tournament.
