HAMMOND, La. – After a 2-0 weekend in the circle, Southeastern Louisiana senior pitcher Heather Zumo was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week presented by Hercules Tires, the league office announced on Tuesday.
 
Zumo, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is the first Lady Lion pitcher to earn Southland weekly accolades since former SLU ace Rachel Hayes took home the honor on April 30, 2018.
 
Zumo, who transferred to Hammond from LSU Eunice prior to the 2020 season, finished 2-0 with a 3.50 earned run average, holding opponents to a .156 batting average during the season-opening Lion Classic.
 
Her week was highlighted by tossing the seventh no-hitter in school history in Thursday's 11-0 win over South Dakota in the season opener. On Friday, she struck out seven Coyotes in 6.1 innings of work to earn her second win of the tournament.

SLU will compete in the UAB Green and Gold Classic this weekend in Birmingham, Ala. On Saturday, the Lady Lions (3-2) will face Jacksonville State at 10 a.m. and UAB at 3 p.m. SLU closes the tournament versus UL Lafayette at 10 a.m. and UAB at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
