HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, tennis and softball teams will all compete during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The No. 14 SLU football team (3-1, 1-0 Southland) will close out its five-game road swing on Saturday, traveling to Nicholls for a noon Southland Conference contest. The first of two meetings this fall between the two rivals, Saturday's contest will not be for the historic River Bell trophy, which will be awarded to the winner of the Nov. 18 SLU-Nicholls contest in Hammond.
 
The Lady Lion soccer team (5-5-1, 3-2-1 Southland) will close out the regular season with a six-match home stand that starts this week. Winner of its last three matches, Southeastern hosts McNeese at 7 p.m. on Friday and Northwestern State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
 
The Southeastern volleyball team (3-11, 2-1 Southland) will also open up its Southland home schedule this week. On Thursday, SLU hosts McNeese at 6:30 p.m. in the University Center. In conjunction with Thursday's match, the first 200 Southeastern students in attendance will receive free t-shirts and food as part of the Dig the Lions promotion. Saturday will see the Lady Lions welcome HBU for a 1 p.m. match.
 
The SLU men's and women's cross country teams will put in one more tune up competition this week before the Southland Conference Championships later this month. On Saturday, the Lions and Lady Lions will be in Clinton, Miss. to participate in the Watson Invitational.
 
The Southeastern tennis team continues its fall schedule this week. SLU will travel to Niceville, Florida to take part in the Bluewater Bay Classic, which runs Friday through Sunday.
 
The Lady Lion softball team continues its fall exhibition schedule this week. On Wednesday, SLU hosts Baton Rouge Community College at 5 p.m., before welcoming. East Central (Miss.) Community College on Friday at 4 p.m. Both exhibitions will be at Hammond America Sportsplex.   
 
Tuesday is Southeastern Giving Day. Fans can visit www.southeasterngivingday.org to support Southeastern Athletics.

Saturday's football game will be televised on Cox Sports Television and ESPN+. The game can also be heard in the Hammond area on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM and online at www.kajun107.net. ESPN+ will also air both of this week's soccer matches and Thursday's volleyball match.  
 
The 2021 season of Inside Southeastern Football with Frank Scelfo will continue on Monday at 7 p.m. inside the Pour House Pizza and Beer Garden (505 W. Thomas Street) in downtown Hammond. The hour show, hosted by fourth-year Lion head coach Scelfo and Allen Waddell, can be heard on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM, as well as online at www.Kajun107.net.
