HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University cross country teams will compete in the Southland Conference Championships, the soccer team will celebrate Senior Day, while the football, volleyball and softball teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
The Lions and Lady Lion cross country teams will travel to Corpus Christi, Texas to compete in the Southland meet on Friday. The women's 6K race is set for 10 a.m., while the SLU men's team will defend its league championship in the 8K race at 11 a.m.
 
The Southeastern soccer team (5-8-3, 3-5-3 Southland) will close out its regular season on Friday, hosting Nicholls at 7 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Prior to the match, the senior class of Mia Milton, Lexie Gunderson, Jamie Raines, Nadine Maher and Megan Gordon will be honored prior to Friday's match for Senior Day.
 
The No. 9 SLU football team (6-1, 4-0 Southland) returns home on Saturday, hosting McNeese at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern has a five-game winning streak to its credit and is off to its best overall start since 1980 and best conference start since 2014.
 
The Lady Lion volleyball team (8-13, 6-3 Southland) closes out its regular season road schedule this week. On Thursday, Southeastern travels to McNeese for a 6:30 p.m. match. Houston Baptist awaits SLU on Saturday for a 1 p.m. league contest.
 
The Southeastern softball team will look to finish its fall exhibition schedule undefeated this week. The Lady Lions, who are 7-0 the fall, travel to Jones College for a 5 p.m. 10-inning exhibition on Friday.
 
Also on Friday, The Lion Athletics Association and the Hammond Downtown Development District will host Fall Fest in Friendship Circle.The event is scheduled for 5:30 – dusk. Children will be able to participate in Trunk-or-Treat around Friendship Circle, as well as face painting and taking pictures with SLU student-athletes and mascot, Roomie the Lion.
 
Those interested in serving as a Trunk-or-Treat car for the event can register for $20 at https://bit.ly/3pav6YW. Prizes will be given for the best decorated car and best Halloween costume.
