STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team dropped its first decision of the spring, falling, 7-0, to Mississippi State Sunday morning at the Rula Tennis Pavilion.
 
Southeastern saw its dual-match record drop to 1-1 with Sunday's defeat. The host Bulldogs (4-0) remained undefeated this spring.
 
"Even though it didn't show on the scoreboard, we did some good things today," Southeastern head coach Jason Hayes said. "We put into play things we've been working on in practice and that will help us a better team as the season progresses. We can learn from playing a match against a team of Mississippi State's caliber. The most encouraging thing is we played hard today and I know I can expect that consistent effort from this group moving forward."
 
In doubles play, Mississippi State earned 6-1 wins on the top two courts to take a 1-0 advantage. On No. 3, the Southeastern pair of Katya Cornejo and Polina Sleptsova (1-1) held an early lead before ultimately falling, 6-2, to MSU's Marta Falceto and Sara Lizariturry.
 
The Bulldogs clinched the team victory with straight set victories on the bottom three courts. On No. 1, SLU's Putri Insani (1-1) dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Emma Antonaki.
 
Sleptsova (1-1) dropped her match to Magda Adaloglou on court 2 by an identical score. The most competitive singles match was on No. 3, as Lion freshman Teodora Mitrovic (1-1) pushed Alexandra Mikhailuk in a 6-3, 7-5 defeat.
