HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana women's tennis team closed out a three-match home stand with a 4-1 nonconference loss to Illinois State in nonconference action Wednesday night at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lions (5-7) picked up one doubles victory and a singles win, but dropped its third straight match. The visiting Redbirds improved to 6-7 with the win.
A competitive doubles point went the way of the visitors. On court 2, the SLU pair of
Flory Bierma and
Kim Bohlen (7-3) outlasted ISU's Laura Fitzgerald and Elena Jankulovska, 7-5. ISU countered with 6-4 wins on No. 1 and 3.
Putri Insani (7-3) picked up Southeastern's lone singles victory with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Tara Damnjanovic on No. 1. Illinois State earned the win with straight-set triumphs on the bottom two courts. On No. 3, Fitzgerald rallied past SLU's
Polina Sleptsova for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win.
