JACKSON, Miss. – Southeastern Louisiana's

Ceci Mercier,
Flory Bierma and
Katya Cornejo each earned singles victories to help the Lions to a 4-2 non-conference victory over Jackson State Friday afternoon at the JSU Tennis Complex.
The Lions bounced back from losing the doubles point to improve to 3-2 overall. JSU fell to 2-8 this spring.
The Lady Tigers took the early 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Jackson State earned 6-2 wins on the No. 2 and 3 courts to take the advantage.
A straight-set win on the No. 2 singles court gave JSU a second point. However, SLU won on each of the bottom four courts to rally for the win.
On No. 3, Yanez (1-0) picked up her first victory of the spring with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Oni Jones. Mercier (3-0) remained unbeaten in dual match singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lucia Placidi on court 4.
On No. 6, Cornejo (2-1) made short work of Maria Martinez, 6-0, 6-2. Bierma (2-2) clinched the match by rallying past Ariel Dickson, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, on No. 5.
Southeastern will continue its road swing on Saturday, facing ULM at noon in Monroe.
