JACKSON, Miss. – In a game that featured just six combined hits, the Southeastern Louisiana softball team fell to Jackson State in non-conference softball action Wednesday afternoon at the JSU Softball Complex.

The loss dropped Southeastern to 7-8 overall and snapped a three-game losing streak. Jackson State improved to 5-10 overall with the win.

Southeastern sophomore pitcher Kati Morse (1-4) took the loss, despite striking out seven and holding JSU to just three hits. However, Southeastern couldn't get going offensively against JSU starter BreAnna Jamerson (3-3), who struck out six and held the Lady Lions to three hits.

Southeastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Junior Meghan Gomez led off the inning and scored on a single by senior Heather Grivas to give the Lady Lions the early lead.

Jackson State evened the score in its half of the second inning. Tynetta Sims led off the inning and later scored an unearned run off a Southeastern error and a fielder's choice.

Jackson State took the lead for good in the top of the third inning, as Farren Wright hit a solo home run to put the Lady Tigers up, 2-1.

Southeastern would never threaten the rest of the way, as Jamerson held the Lady Lions hitless in the final five innings.

Southeastern will be back in action on Saturday, opening Southland Conference play with a 11 a.m. doubleheader versus Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas.
