LADY LIONS PUT WIN STREAK ON THE LINE VERSUS USM

HAMMOND - The Southeastern Louisiana women\'s tennis team will look to extend its 12-match win streak on Tuesday, when it hosts Southern Miss in non-conference action at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.

The Lady Lions (14-2, 7-0 SLC) are fresh off key Southland Conference victories over Lamar and McNeese State this weekend. Southern Miss heads into Tuesday\'s match with an 8-4 overall mark this spring.

Southeastern has been on a roll as of late with excellent play throughout the singles lineup. Senior Emilija Arnaudovska is on a 12-match winning streak and has a team-best 15-1 singles mark this spring at No. 1. At No. 6, senior Nina Knavs is 13-1 and has a team-high 13-match singles winning streak. Knavs and senior Bonnie Phillips (12-3), who has won her last 11 singles matches at No. 5, have been dominant at the bottom of the singles lineup.

Junior Iva Velkovska (No. 2) and senior Jana Simurkova (No. 4) have matching 13-3 singles records on the season. Senior Breda Kovac (10-5) has also been solid at No. 3.

In doubles play, Simurkova and Phillips are 11-2 this season and have won their last 10 matches at No. 3. Arnaudovska and Velkovska have won nine straight and are 11-3 at No. 2. At No. 1, Knavs and Kovac have paired for a 7-5 spring mark.

Southeastern will be third Southland Conference team Southern Miss has faced this season. USM has defeated SLC co-leader Northwestern State, 4-3, and Sam Houston State, 6-1. Stephanie Dellocomo leads the team with an 8-3 singles record. Dellocomo and Brittany Serret are 5-1 in dual match doubles play.

Tuesday\'s match is the first of four matches this week for the Lady Lions, who will head to Southern for a 2 p.m. match on Wednesday. Over the weekend, Southeastern will travel to face SLC rivals Texas-Arlington on Saturday and Texas State on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 10 a.m.
