STRAWBERRY STADIUM PRESSBOX/VICTORY CLUB CONSTRUCTION MOVING AT STEADY PACE

Construction crews have been busy around Strawberry Stadium working on the renovated pressbox and Victory Club that will be available for the 2008 season.

Demolition on the old pressbox began after the conclusion of the 2007 season and was completely removed earlier this spring. Foundation work that will occupy the Victory Club is being completed and the installing of steel supports for the new facility began last week.

The club level, suites and press facilities will be accessed via stair/elevator towers located at each end of the new structure. The towers are a combination of glass enclosure and open-air construction. At grade, the new pressbox and club level area will create an entry concourse with circulation access from the north and south ends of the stadium. New concession areas and restrooms will also be constructed between gates 1 and 2.

The new structure will adjoin the new parking garage that opened for student parking in January. The four-level structure contains approximately 500 spaces with the top level providing direct access to the Victory Club.

Strawberry Stadium received an upgraded lighting system in 2007 and received an additional upgrade with five lights added on each of the four lighting towers.

Fans can view the progress through a photo gallery that is located on the Audio/Video section on www.LionSports.net.
