JOHANSSON, PERRY LEAD LADY LIONS AT LSU ALUMNI GOLD

BATON ROUGE - Twenty-four season or personal bests, along with four qualifiers for the NCAA Mideast Regionals highlighted Southeastern Louisiana's performance at the LSU Alumni Gold track and field meet that concluded late Saturday at Bernie Moore Track Stadium.

Sixteen bests were recorded on the men's side, led by Dwight Womack's performance shot put, discus and hammer throw. The junior from Baton Rouge finished fourth overall in the hammer throw (173-1), seventh in the discus (166-7) and 15th in the shot put (47-4.50). Teremine White, from Donaldsonville, finished third overall in the shot put (54-8.75) and ninth in the discus (158-8).

In the javelin, Curtis Moss finished third overall with a NCAA Mideast Regional qualifying mark of 215-11 while Prairieville's Jonny Ellis was third in the pole vault with a personal-best mark of 16-2.75. Corey Billizone turned in a pair of top-10 finishes placing second in the high jump (6-9) and eighth in the triple jump (47-0.25).

Freshmen Kalphys Kemboi (14:30.73) and Cory Roberts (15.19) each turned in season-best times in the 5,000-meter run and 110-meter hurdles respectively.

On the women's side, Mikaela Johansson turned in a pair of top-five finishes as the junior college transfer was second in the hammer throw (179-4) and fourth in the shot put (45-1). Freshman Katherine Perry of St. Francisville was fourth overall with a personal-best throw in the javelin (147-0) followed by Betsey Baldwin (144-8) who was sixth and Yvette Schubert (134-2) who placed 10th.

Colleena Collins finished fourth overall in the hammer throw (172-6) while Kalette Crawford of Kentwood was ninth (145-4).
