FORMER LION HUGGINS CATCHING ON IN NFL EUROPE

HAMMOND - After completing his collegiate career as the most prolific wide receiver in school history, former Southeastern All-American Felton Huggins made the most in his professional debut last Saturday in the opening week of the NFL Europe season.

Huggins, who was drafted by the Frankfurt Galaxy in the 21st round of the 2007 free agent draft, caught three passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in a 30-14 win over Amsterdam. Huggins caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from former New Orleans Saints quarterback J.T. O'Sullivan in the first quarter before getting two more receptions in the third.

Huggins, who finished as Southeastern's all-time leader in career receptions (162), yards (2,350) and touchdowns (22), was a third-team All-America selection in 2004 by the Associated Press and the Sports Network after setting school records with 84 receptions for 1,313 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The Zachary native and former Northeast High product signed with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars in 2006 and was among the team's final cuts.

Frankfurt (1-0), the defending World Bowl champion, returns to action on Saturday when it visits Cologne in a 11 a.m. CST contest. The game will be carried live on the NFL Network.
