LIONS SET TO COMPETE IN MEMPHIS INTERCOLLEGIATE

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Southeastern Louisiana University golf team competes in its third tournament of the fall season when it begins competition Monday in the fourth-annual Memphis Intercollegiate at the historic Colonial Country Club.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 8 a.m. with 15-teams playing 36 holes before the final 18 holes will be completed on Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. Playing at one of the top golfing venues in the South, Southeastern will compete on the par-72, 7,259-yard that was founded in 1913 and played home to the PGA's FED/EX St. Jude Classic for 19 years.

Southeastern, making its second trip to the state of Tennessee in three events, opened the fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Scenic City Invitaitonal in Chattanooga before a seventh-place finish at the VCU Shootout last week.

Graham Benson has paced Southeastern through two tournaments with a 71.17 scoring average followed by Matthew Carvell at 71.67. Freshman Rasmus Astrand, who fired a 2-over-par 218 in his first collegiate tournament last week, James Taverner and Kevin Sohn round out the Southeastern contingent with Ponchatoula's Eddie Brascher competing as an individual.

Southeastern is joined in the tournament by host Memphis, Louisiana-Lafayette, Arkansas State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Penn State, Rice, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Miss, Tulsa, Wisconsin and Xavier.
