HAMMOND - Southeastern Louisiana University baseball coach
Jay Artigues announced Friday that Louisiana native Keith Vorhoff has been added to the staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2007 season.
Vorhoff, a Baton Rouge native and former prep standout at Redemptorist High School, spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Northeast Texas Community College. While at NTCC, Vorhoff coached the outfielders and instructed base-running where the Eagles stole 298 bases the past two seasons.
"We're very excited to have Keith join our coaching staff," Artigues said. "He brings a wealth of baseball knowledge to Southeastern and will be a good communicator with our players."
Vorhoff served as an assistant for two summers with the Anchorage Bucs in the Alaskan Baseball League and San Luis Obispo Blues of the California Collegiate League in 2003. During the 2004 season, Vorhoff served as hitting coach where the Bucs led the ABL in batting average, slugging and runs scored.
Prior to coaching at NTCC, Vorhoff was a student assistant at Missouri Valley College where he helped guide the Vikings to the NAIA Region V championship in 2003. Vorhoff began his collegiate career at Pratt Community College, where he was a second-team All-Region selection and named to the Jayhawk League All-Star team.
