BEAUMONT, Texas - The Southeastern men's tennis team extended their winning streak to seven matches with a 5-2 victory over Southland Conference foe Texas-Pan American Saturday afternoon at the Cardinal Courts on the Lamar campus.

The Lions improved to 13-6 overall and 3-1 in Southland Conference action. UTPA dropped to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in SLC play.

Southeastern's Ondrej Krivka, Julien Lausao and Ilie Babincuic each won their seventh straight singles match on Saturday. At No. 1, Krivka coasted to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Bronc Gary Bianco, 6-3, 6-1. Lausao came back from a set down at No. 4 to beat Oliver Steil 3-6, 6-2, 10-3. Babincuic had no problem with Rehman Esmail at No. 5, winning 6-2, 6-2. The Lions' lone senior - Paul Birkett - won his fifth straight singles match, 6-1, 6-3, over Pierre Cantu at No. 6.

Southeastern swept doubles play to start the match. At No. 1, Olivier Nussbaum and Lausao improved to 11-1 overall with their sixth straight win - 9-8 over Salvo and Esmail. The Southeastern No. 2 (Haris Huremovic/Babincuic) and No. 3 (Birkett/Krivka) doubles teams each won to improve their respective records to 9-2.

Southeastern will look to continue rolling along on Monday, when they host Alcorn State at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
