Over 1,000 students crammed the north end zone of Strawberry Stadium for the first-ever Southeastern Football Sneak Peek Thursday afternoon.
The event provided free food and drink to Southeastern students while also allowing them to catch a glimpse of the Lions football in action during a mini-scrimmage at the stadium.
The event was deemed a huge success by Roy Brown, Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Public Relations, who said the main goal of the program was to get students in touch with Southeastern football.
"It was the first effort at this event and we couldn't have been more pleased," added Brown. "We also gave students the opportunity to purchase student season tickets and that portion of the event also went extremely well."
First year head coach Dennis Roland was impressed with the turnout.
"I thought it was a great showing by our student population," replied Roland. "It was great to see that kind of support during the spring. I commend our students for taking an active role. I can't wait to see them packing the stands in September."
The Lions will return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m. for a more complete controlled scrimmage in Strawberry Stadium. The scrimmage is open to the public. The annual Spring Game is set for Sat., April 30 at noon.
