PLANO, Texas - After setting a NCAA Provisional mark in the javelin, Southeastern's Chris Carter was selected as the Southland Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week in a release by the conference office.
Carter, from Livingston, qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regionals after recording a mark of 221 feet, 9 inches at the Florida State Snowbird Invitational last week. The meet was the first for Carter, a participant in the 2003 NCAA Track and Field Championships, since recovering from Tommy John surgery on his elbow.
Latasha Sinclair of Texas-San Antonio was selected as the Women's Athlete of the Week after she won the 100 and 200 meters and ran on UTSA's victorious 4x100-meter relay team Saturday at the Trinity Invitational. She clocked a 12.69 in the 100 meters and 25.79 in the deuce, while the 4x100 team ran 48.54.
Southeastern's Fayola Wilson, a former standout at Ponchatoula High, was named to the SLC honor roll.
