BASKETBALL LIONS RETURN HOME TO HOST SPRING HILL COLLEGE

HAMMOND - Coming off one of its biggest wins in school history, the Southeastern men's basketball team returns to action on Thursday when it plays host to Spring Hill College in a 7 p.m. game at the University Center

The game can be heard in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the internet at www.LionSports.net. Tickets are available at the Southeastern Athletic Ticket Office, located in Room 111 of the University Center, beginning at 8 a.m. All Southeastern students are admitted free with a valid ID.

Southeastern (2-1), which opens a three-game homestand that will have the Lions hosting Southern (Dec. 5) and Belhaven (Dec. 8), snapped a 35-game losing streak to schools from the SEC on Monday when it upset Mississippi State, 57-46. Ricky Woods scored 15 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds in the historic win, which was the first win against an SEC team since an 89-88 win at LSU in 1966. Quennell Green added 15 points and Daryl Cohen 10 as Southeastern held the Bulldogs to 26 percent shooting in the game, including 1-for-16 from behind the 3-point line.

Woods, the Southland Conference's leader in rebounds (13.0) and blocks (3.0), is third in the league in scoring at 17.0 points per game followed by Cohen (14.0), Green (12.7) and Jonathan Walker (9.3), who is second in the league in rebounds.

Spring Hill (2-1), an NAIA school which competes in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, picked up a 111-75 win over Trinity College in its last game behind 24 points and seven rebounds from Slidell's Noah Woolridge. Krisner Green and Jeremy Price are other key players for the Badgers, whose only loss was an 84-46 setback to South Alabama.
