HAMMOND - The Southeastern football team will return home on Saturday, hosting Southland Conference rival Texas State at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium.
The Lions (1-2) are coming off a tough 28-21 loss to Tulane on Saturday at Tiger Stadium. The 16th-ranked Bobcats (3-1) roughed up South Dakota State, 42-12, on Saturday in San Marcos, Texas. The game will be the SLC opener for both teams and Southeastern's first-ever Southland Conference game. The game will be broadcast live on KAJUN 107.1 FM.
Saturday will also be Take A Kid to the Game Day at Strawberry Stadium. Through the promotion, fans will be able to purchase discounted children's tickets with the purchase of one full price adult ticket to the game. Through the national program sponsored by the NCAA, fans that purchase one adult ticket at full price may purchase up to two discounted children's tickets for only $5 each. The Southeastern volleyball team (4-9, 0-5 SLC) will return home for the first time in several weeks. On Tuesday, the Lady Lions welcome non-conference foe Southern Miss to the University Center for a 6 p.m. match. On Friday, Southeastern will look to secure its first conference win of the season in a 6 p.m. match versus SLC foe Texas-Arlington at 6 p.m.
The Southeastern soccer team (2-5-1, 0-1 SLC) opens a five-match home stand this week. On Friday, Stephen F. Austin - the defending SLC champions - will be in town for a 4:30 p.m. match. Sam Houston State will visit the Southeastern Soccer Complex on Sunday for a 2 p.m. league tilt.
The men's golf team returns to the links this week. The Lions will be in Santicoy, Calif. on Monday and Tuesday to participate in the Club Glove Intercollegiate.
The men's and women's cross country teams will be in action this week. The Lions and Lady Lions are scheduled to head to Natchitoches for Monday's Northwestern State Invitational.
