PLANO, Texas - Southeastern's Kari Yost was named Southland Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week in an announcement from the league office Tuesday.

Yost, a sophomore from Diamond Bar, Calif., anchored a Southeastern defense that held Louisiana Tech to six shots in a 5-0 shutout victory for the Lady Lions on Sunday. Yost also added an assist - the second of her career - in the blowout win. With Yost leading the way, the Southeastern defense has held opponents to just two goals in its past four matches.

Yost, who was named SLC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career, shared the award with Louisiana-Monroe's Kelly Lander. Yost kept ULM from making a clean sweep of the awards for the second straight week, as ULM's Rachel Marcom was named Goalkeeper of the Week and teammate Kortney Harris was named Offensive Player of the Week.

Southeastern opens up SLC play on Tuesday, when they play at Nicholls State at 4 p.m.
