WOMEN'S SOCCER: SOUTHEASTERN'S ONEY HONORED BY SOCCER BUZZ MAGAZINE

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Southeastern's Kendra Oney was named to Soccer Buzz Magazine's All-Central Region team announced on Friday.

Oney, a senior from Aurora, Colo., was a third-team selection. The honor marks the second time this season that Oney received recognition from the national magazine. The 5-7 forward was named to the publication's National Elite Team of the Week on Oct. 1, after recording back-to-back hat tricks in road wins over Northwestern State and Louisiana-Monroe.

"We are very proud of Kendra's accomplishment," Southeastern head coach Blake Hornbuckle said. "It speaks volumes for the program's success that a Southeastern player cn finally be recognized on a national level, especially in the nation's largest region. Kendra has been a major contributor to our program for four years and is very deserving of the accolades."

Oney led the Southland Conference with 20 goals and 45 points for the Lady Lions, who finished with a 15-2-4 overall record, a 9-0-3 mark in conference play and won their second straight SLC regular season title. The All-Central Region award just adds to the honors for Oney, who was also named Southland Conference and Louisiana Player of the Year. Oney closed out her four-year Lady Lion career ranked in the top five on the school's career list in every offensive category.
