Capello is entering his fifth year as the distance coach at Southeastern.
The Nicholls State grad helped the Lions and Lady Lions' set school records in the men's and women's distance medley relay, the women's 800m, 3k and 5k during the 2020 indoor season.
Prior to coaching at Southeastern, Capello was the head coach of the cross country and track and field programs at Ascension Catholic High School in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. During his six years as coach, Ascension Catholic’s teams won eight state championships and had eight state runner-up finishes.Â
He was named Baton Rouge Area Metro Coach of the Year five times and his athletes won 28 individual state championships and set five class state records.
Capello graduated from Nicholls State University in 1990 with a B.A. in Government and graduated from LSU Law School with a Juris Doctorate in 1993.
