Newsome averaged 5.00 kills per set and hit .348 in three-set victories over SLC foe Northwestern State, ULM and Louisiana Tech in this weekend's Battle for the Boot. Newsome finished with 19 kills and hit .516 in the sweep of ULM and came back the next day with a 17-kill performance in the win over the Techsters.
