Newsome recorded three double-doubles during a 3-0 week that saw SLU extend its winning streak to five matches. The freshman finished with 22 kills and 11 digs in a five-set win at Lamar on Tuesday. She came back with a 23-kill, 11-dig showing in a four-set win over Abilene Christian. She closed the week with 17 kills and 12 digs in a four-set win over Stephen F. Austin that ended the Ladyjacks' 42-match Southland Conference winning streak.
