In the first three matches of her Lady Lion career, Newsome averaged 4.54 kills per set and helped SLU to a 2-1 start to the spring 2021 season. The Houston, Texas native recorded 23 kills in a 3-1 season-opening win at Tulane on Thursday, while helping Southeastern to a 3-1 victory at Southern Miss with a 22-kill performance on Friday.
