In his Southeastern debut, Virgil threw for 358 yards - the most by a Lion since 2011 and the 16th-highest in the history of the program - and four touchdowns in a narrow 34-31 loss to FBS foe ULM. Virgil drove the Lions to the potential game-tying drive in the final 37 seconds, but the field goal try to force overtime was blocked. He’s the first Lion to throw four touchdowns in a game since Bryan Bennett tossed four in a 28-9 win over McNeese on Nov. 15, 2014.
