Veal helped lead Southeastern to a 63-58 win at conference front-runner New Orleans on Thursday with a game-high 23 points. It was Veal’s third straight game of 20-plus points and his eighth of the season. 11 of the points came in the final 4:15 as the Lions overcame a 10-point deficit in the final 10:56. He scored six straight points to put the Lions ahead and after New Orleans regained a six-point lead, hit a 3, then grabbed a steal that led to the tying 3 with 1:38 left. Veal’s rebound led to the go-ahead 3 and his steal and two free throws iced it with 9 seconds left. He also had career highs with six steals and two blocks while dishing out five assists and grabbing five rebounds.
