Villarreal won the top singles flight at the Lady Demon Fall Invite, which wrapped up Saturday at Northwestern State. Villarreal, a native of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and a two-time first team All-Southland Conference performer, was able to win her draw by defeating three league opponents. Villarreal opened the tournament with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Lamar’s Caroline Maso. She followed with a 6-4, 6-1 semifinal win over Kateryna Piatakova. In the final, she defeated Nicholls’ Stephanie Barnett, 6-2, 7-6.
