Connors led the Lions to their first Southland Conference road victory on Saturday, helping Southeastern earn a 30-27 overtime win over league foe Sam Houston State. Connors finished with eight tackles, an interception, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup in the game, but his biggest contribution came on the final play of regulation. SHSU placekicker Taylor Wilkins attempted to end the game with a 32-yard field goal, but Connors blocked the attempt to send the contest to overtime.
After the Connors-led defense held the Bearkats to field goal on their first overtime possession, junior quarterback Brian Babin hit junior wide receiver with the game-winning 14-yard touchdown strike. Connors, who earned his third SLC Player of the Week honor of his career and second of the season, is currently second in the SLC with 102 tackles and leads the league with four interceptions.
