Kovey Simmons shattered the school record in the men’s pole vault with a mark of 17 feet, 0.75 inches to pace the Southeastern Louisiana track and field team at the 84th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus. Simmons, whose previous best mark of the season was 16-0.75, cleared the bar on the final attempt on his first two marks before breaking the school record of 17-0.50 set by Walter Latapie in 1993. Simmons, a junior from DeRidder, finished tied for the top mark in the event with Alex Bentley of Houston and BYU’s Tanner Emrich.
