QUOTES
Southeastern head coach Rocky Capello:
On the women's race…
"They looked really, really good. Sophie ran her best race and I've been coaching her since the third grade. I've never seen her run that well and the same with Breanna. I've been coaching her since middle school. They both had huge PRs. Tara ran a great race.
Lydia Pevey ran, by far, the best race of her life. They are coming around. It's a small team but we seem to be getting better and better every week and we still have a couple of weeks until conference. I was pretty excited about the way they ran."
On the men's performance…
"They ran a good race and they competed well. We still have to work on appropriate pacing but I thought they competed well. They had great finishes.
Jonathan Respress ran the race of his life and Bryant did well. I was happy with it. The goal was today was to see how our next-tier guys can compete when they were in kind of a stressful situation when we needed them."
On the break before the next meet on Oct. 13.
"We don't race again for two weeks so we can focus on training and healing up a little bit. The Alabama race is going to be exciting. I've been looking forward to that one. It will be the toughest course we've run all year but I'm excited and I think the kids are excited about it. It will be fun."
