NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana men's and women's cross country teams both placed third at the season-opening New Orleans Invitational Friday evening at Lake Oaks Park.
The Lions finished with 61 points, coming in behind UL-Lafayette (35) and LSU (39). New Orleans (106), Southern (139) and Nicholls (166) rounded out the field.
The Lady Lions recorded 77 points to finish behind LSU (24) and UL Lafayette (36). Nicholls (112) took fourth, Southern (136) fifth and New Orleans (136) sixth.
Freshman
Adam Cortez led the Southeastern men with a second-place time of 15 minutes, 27.16 seconds. Freshman
Anthony Cordero also recorded a top-10 finish, coming in eighth in 15:51.89 for the 5K race.
The Lady Lions were also paced by a freshman,
Tara Stuntz, who came in sixth in 19:04.14.

UL Lafayette's Stanley Limoh won the men's race in 15:25.95. LSU's Erika Lewis was the women's winner in 18:24.43.
