BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Southeastern Louisiana sophomore jumper
Rodney Ruffin picked up a win in his sixth straight meet after taking the high jump at the South Alabama Jaguar Invitational on Sunday in the Birmingham CrossPlex.
The Lions, who competed in five events in the meet, finished 12
th with 11 points.
Ruffin won a high jump competition for the fourth time in 2017 after clearing 6 feet, 9 inches. He had a couple of good attempts at 7-2.5 which would have been a school record. Ruffin, who currently stands 17
th on the national list in the high jump, also has a pair of long jump victories this season.
Senior
Steven Barze added an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 22-01.0.
Senior
Julian Maze was 10
th in the triple jump in 43.05.25.
Freshman
Justin Taylor just missed the finals of the 60-meter hurdles after finishing 10
th in the preliminaries in 8.68 seconds.
Southeastern will take a break from competition until traveling to Baton Rouge for the LSU Twilight on Feb. 17. The Southland Indoor Championships are scheduled for Feb. 22-23 at the CrossPlex.
