LAKE CHARLES, La. – Southeastern Louisiana eclipsed a trio of facility records and one school mark and came away with 10 first-place finishes at the McNeese State Indoor Invite #1 Friday evening at the McNeese State Indoor Recreation Complex.
"It was a really, really good meet," Southeastern head coach
Sean Brady said. "I think we accomplished everything we set out to today. From my perspective, we completely dominated the meet. I think about everything we entered, we made the finals and scored well. We were all over the board and it was just good stuff wherever we looked."
Senior
Deandre Henderson and freshman
Martavius James both shattered the facility record of 22.70 seconds in the 200 meters set by McNeese's Charles Jackson in 2009. Henderson beat his personal best in winning in 22.11. James, running the 200 for the first time collegiately, was second in 22.23.
Junior Clarisa Smith took second in the mile in 5 minutes, 35.44 seconds, eclipsing the old Recreation Complex mark of 5:40.0 set by Lamar's Becky Brooks in 1986. McNeese's Imogen Hull won in 5:30.89.
Smith later took second in the 3,000 in 11:31.22.
Senior
Andre Colebrook knocked more than five seconds off the school record in the 600 in winning in 1:18.29.
Alex Holden had the old mark of 1:23.86 at the 2014 McNeese Invite #1. Sophomore
Tajh Lewis also came in under that time in finishing fifth in 1:23.54.
Sophomore
Rodney Ruffin won an event for the second straight week, capturing the long jump with a personal-best mark of 23 feet, 11.5 inches on his third attempt. He had set the school record in winning the high jump at the season-opening LSU Purple Tiger.
Ruffin went on to set another personal best in finishing second in the triple jump at 48-5.5.
Junior
Devin King won the pole vault for the second straight week after clearing 16-10.75. Junior
Brandon Hollier and freshman
Noel DelCerro tied for third at 13-7.25.
Barze (7.88 seconds) and freshman
Justin Taylor (8.34) captured the top two spots in the 55-meter hurdles. Barze was also fifth in both the long jump (21-10.75) and triple jump (45-5.25).
Another senior,
Dwayne Woodard, won the 400 in 50.98 seconds. Junior
Albert Martinez was fourth in 51.22.
The 4x400 relay of Woodard, Colebrook, Martinez and James came in first by more than 2 seconds in 3:23.32.
Henderson led four Lions in the top 10 in the 55 meters, crossing the line second in 6.51. Senior
Dantrayl Sanders was fifth in a personal-best 6.57.
Martavius James placed sixth in 6.60 and Woodard set a PR in taking ninth in a 6.70.
Sophomore
Michael Seither had a pair of top-three finishes, coming in second in the shot put (46-2.75) and third in the weight throw (43-10.5).
Holden placed third in the men's mile in 4:35.24 with Lewis sixth in 4:40.72.
Senior
Harry Wiggins finished sixth in the 3,000 in 8:56.56. Freshman
Grant O'Callaghan came in eighth (9:07.25) and sophomore
Brett Olivier 10
th (9:29.83).
On the women's side, freshman
Ashley Davis, in her Lady Lion debut, took home the shot put title with a mark of 45-11.25. She also was seventh in the weight throw at 45-7. Junior
Natalia Redondo, also in her meet with Southeastern finished third at 50-9.50.
Sophomore
Tayla Celestine tied McNeese's Crystal Coulter for first in the high jump at 5-3.
Senior
Addison Martinez (11-7.75) and sophomore
Madison Mizell (10-11.75) went two-three in the pole vault.

Freshman
Ebony Hills paced four Lady Lions in the top 10 in the 55 hurdles with a second-place time of 8.52 seconds. Celestine was fourth (8.78), sophomore
Breanne Bias fifth (8.79) and sophomore
Raven Davis ninth (9.30).
Six Lady Lions were in the top 10 in the 200. Washington placed third (26.70), Hills fourth (27.00), Davis fifth (27.21), Celestine sixth (27.29), junior

th (28.24).
Southeastern is scheduled to take a break before returning to Lake Charles to compete in the McNeese Invite #2 on Jan. 27.
