Southeastern (2-1) took a pair of games from Louisiana Tech over the weekend to grab the series from the Bulldogs. The Lions won their first two games of the season in differing fashion, 4-2 in 10 innings and 16-5, over Tech.

Junior shortstop Jacob Williams (.455), junior catcher Sam Roberson (.444), junior infielder Kevin Carr (.333) and sophomore outfielder Kyle Cedotal (.333) lead Southeastern at the plate. Carr, Brett Hoffman and Jameson Fisher have each driven in a team-high three runs. The Lions have stolen 9 of 11 bases as a team.

Southeastern will send senior right-hander Sean Kennel (6-3, 3.49 in 2013) to the mound to counter Tiger left-hander Cody Glenn (7-3, 2.68 in 2013). Glenn tossed a scoreless seventh inning Sunday against Grambling State while Kennel will be making his season debut.

Sophomore shortstop Alex Bregman (.500), Andrew Stevenson (.500) and Conner Hale (.500) lead LSU at the plate. Chris Chinea owns the Tigers' only home run and Bregman leads the team with three RBIs. LSU has stolen four bases collectively.

The Tigers swept through the MLB Urban Invitational this past weekend, opening the season with a pair of wins over the University of New Orleans and a victory against Grambling.

LSU returns to Hammond for the first time since the then No. 3-ranked Tigers defeated the Lions 16-5 on March 10, 2009.

Southeastern returns to action Friday at 1 p.m. in the opener of a three-game series against George Washington at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
