BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 2-ranked LSU pounded out 19 hits Sunday as Southeastern fell 13-1 to the Tigers in the resumption of contest suspended Friday because of inclement weather.

Play resumed Sunday with two outs and a 1-1 count in the bottom of the first inning on LSU's Mason Katz. The Tigers(6-1) had runners at first and third.

Katz jumped on an offering from Southeastern left-hander Jordan Hymel (0-1) and deposited it into the left-field bleachers for a three-run home run. LSU strung together three more hits to add another run for a 4-0 lead at the end of one.

LSU added a pair of runs in the second, fourth and sixth, and three more in the seventh off seven Lion pitchers.

Southeastern (5-2) scored its run in the sixth. First baseman Aaron Haag led off the inning with an infield single. LSU starter Ryan Eades (1-0) hit catcher Jameson Fisher with a pitch, putting a pair on without an out.

Gabe Woods hit a deep fly ball to center field that Chris Sciambra tracked down, allowing Haag and Fisher to both tag up and take an extra base. Ben Hernandez drove a one-out single to right, his second-consecutive hit, to plate Haag. After a popup, Hernandez was thrown out attempting to steal second to end the inning.

Eades earned his first win of the season while Hymel suffered the loss. Mason Klotz, Jason Greenleaf, Kyle Cedotal, John Gremillion, Brennan Catalano and Kaleb Manuel all put in time on the mound for the Lions in addition to Hymel.

Tanner Rainey, pinch hitting for Haag in the eighth, delivered a lead-off double to right-center field for his first collegiate hit.

Southeastern, which does not have a mid-week contest scheduled this week, returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. against Texas Southern at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
