Devan Walker Selected To Play In Texas Vs. The Nation All-Star Game

Joins Robert Alford and Nathan Stanley as first Lion trio to play in All-Star game in same season

Texas Vs. Nation All-Star Game
HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana University linebacker Devan Walker became the third player from the 2012 squad to be invited to a collegiate post-season football game when he was selected to play in the annual Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game, scheduled for Feb. 2 in Allen, Texas.

The game, which pits top collegiate players originally from Texas or who play college football in Texas against top players from around the nation, is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at the recently opened Eagle Stadium and will be aired on Fox Sports Southwest.

The selection of Walker, along with teammates Robert Alford (Senior Bowl) and Nathan Stanley (Casino del Sol, East-West Shrine Game), marks the first time in school history three Lions were selected to participate in collegiate all-star games in the same season.

Walker, who will play for the Nation team, earned second-team All-Southland Conference honors as a linebacker in 2012 after playing his first three seasons at defensive end.

The Baton Rouge native and former Catholic High product recorded 46 tackles with a team-high 12 stops for loss and seven sacks. He tied a career-high with 10 tackles against South Dakota State and three tackles for loss against UT Martin. Walker picked up sacks in consecutive games against South Dakota State, UT Martin and McNeese State before adding a career-high two sacks in a victory over Northwestern State.

Walker, who earned his degree in Industrial Technology last month from Southeastern, played in 42 career games for the Lions and finished with 168 tackles, 37.5 tackles for loss (second in school history) and 15.0 sacks (third in school history).

Walker will join the rest of the squad in Allen on Monday before the teams hold their first respective practices on Tuesday.
