HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team took advantage of cooler temperatures on Friday as the Lions worked out in shells for over two hours in Strawberry Stadium.
With the Lions scheduled for participate in an evening Pep Rally as part of Hammond's “Hot August Night,” head coach
Ron Roberts pushed the start of practice up one hour to 2:15 p.m. The Lions were greeted with temperatures in the low 80's as passing showers rolled through the Hammond area earlier in the afternoon.
Much of the work in Friday's session concentrated on red zone and third-down situations, but Southeastern also prepped for its second scrimmage of the season that is scheduled for Saturday at 6:50 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Lions will hold their annual Media Day from 12-2 p.m. in the Victory Club of Strawberry Stadium with Roberts, his coaching staff and selected players expected to participate.
Southeastern is scheduled to open the season on Sept. 1 at SEC newcomer Missouri before returning home to host Division I FCS member South Dakota State on Sept. 8 in a 7 p.m. contest.
